Pakistan vs Australia 2nd Test Day 2: Preview, Live Scores Updates Online

Younis Khan is a class act and with each game he is setting new records and telling the Pakistan selectors that there is a lot cricket left in him.

The veteran batsman became the first batsmen in 90 years to make three consecutive hundreds against Australia to put Pakistan in commanding position on the opening day of the second Test.

Pakistan finished on 302 for two on the first day with Younis Khan (111 not out) and Azhar Ali (101 not out) at the crease. They have stitched an unbeaten 208-run partnership for the third wicket to put Pakistan on course of first series victory over Australia in 20 years.

The Australian team was completed dissected by Younis and Azhar as the duo gave no opening to the Kangaroos, despite Michael Clarke’s numerous attempts.

It was hard to see the Australian bowlers struggled throughout the day with Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Johnson taking wickets on either side of the break.

“It was a tough day,” said Clarke said. “I tried everything, some unorthodox fields but we couldn’t take as many wickets as we would have wanted and that’s disappointing.”

Earlier, Ahmad Shehzad and Mohammed Hafeez provided Pakistan a steady start and made a 57-run partnership for the opening wicket. Shehzad (35) was the first to go when he was trapped leg-before by Lyon before the lunch.

After the lunch, Johnson (45) provided Australia the second breakthrough when he was caught behind by Brad Haddin. But Azhar and Younis held the innings together and didn’t allow Australian bowlers to give any more jolts.

“I don’t have words to describe the way he batted,” Ali said. “We are in a good position but it’s a long way to go and we have to apply ourselves in every session in this match.”
