Based on his performance in the last Test match that he played for India, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav should have walked into the playing XI against Sri Lanka in Galle. However, the team management decided against it.
They tried Hardik Pandya when the Galle pitch was actually suited for three spinners in the line-up. Thankfully, Pandya did well for himself while making his debut, but the question still remains on Yadav.
Yadav is a deserving candidate to play the 2nd Test in Colombo. Without a doubt, both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would be key spinners for India and having an extra spinner in Yadav could also help the team.

The left-arm spinner not only has the wicket-taking ability, but can also add a multi-dimensional option in the bowling department. After all, Yadav’s dramatic debut against Australia is still fresh in everyone memory.
This was the series deciding match and as a debutant he picked up four important wickets to restrict the Aussies from making a big score. Rest, they say is history. India went on to win the Test and series.
It will be interesting to see whether the team management would be changing the winning combination in Colombo.
