After handing a thumping defeat to Sri Lanka in Galle, the Indian Cricket Team has reached Colombo. The Indian team management is in a sweet dilemma at the moment. They have plenty of options to chose for the opening slot.
India have to make a choice among KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund for the 2nd Test. Captain Virat Kohli will have to make a tough choice of dropping one of his in-form openers in the Colombo Test.
Dhawan scored a scorching hundred in the 1st innings, while Mukund made a solid fifty in the 2nd. Rahul, meanwhile, has been India’s first choice opener for a while now. His illness opened doors for Dhawan in Galle.

“The opening competition is a happy headache,” the Indian captain Kohli said after the 1st Test. “It felt nice that it came off nicely. Abhinav batted well and he deserved a hundred.”
The destructive southpaw capitalised the opportunity, and cemented his place for the next game. It is almost certain that Rahul will be an automatic selection in the 2nd Test, if he regains fitness.
Since he has recovered from flu, India will certainly draft the in-form opener in the playing XI. Dhawan is also certain to keep his place. This means Mukund will be warming the bench in the rest of the series.
