Shashank Manohar Resigns as Indian Cricket Board President

The Indian Cricket Board has confirmed that Shashank Manohar has resigned as the president of the BCCI because of the upcoming ICC elections.

Manohar is contesting for the ICC Chairman, the post which shall be contested by independent candidates that are not linked with any cricket boards.

In a letter to Anurag Thakur, Manohar resigned from the BCCI, and also as BCCI representative on the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council.

“I hereby tender my resignation with immediate effect from the post of President of Board of Control for Cricket in India,” Manohar said in the letter to the BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur.

“I also resign with immediate effect as the representative of BCCI on the International Cricket Council, as also the Asian Cricket Council on which I was nominated by the General Body of BCCI.”

The Indian Cricket Board also confirmed Manohar’s resignation in a release.

The BCCI release stated: The BCCI confirms that Mr. Shashank Manohar has resigned from the post of President, BCCI. He has also resigned as the BCCI representative on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council.

The BCCI places on record its deep appreciation of the immense contribution to Indian cricket made by Mr. Manohar.
