Team India defeated South Africa in Mohali Test as the hosts go 1-0 up in five-match series.

India skipper Virat Kohli banked on spinners after seeing not-so-familiar-spin-friendly-track, and they fully repaid faith of their skipper by scripting a memorable win inside three days in Mohali.

In a low-scoring game, Indian spinner picked 19 wickets, and showed how good they in home conditions by bundling the Proteas for a paltry 109 in the second innings.

It was a test of character for India on day three when they posted a 218-run target for South Africa, as a single partnership could have taken the game away from the hosts.

This, however, wasn’t the case as Ravindra Jadeja ripped through South Africa batting line-up in his comeback match, taking a fifer and showing how good a player he is these conditions.

South Africans had no answers of the turning balls, and also of those that didn’t. Indian spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra – used the conditions to perfection and won for India.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who took a fifer in the first innings, supported Ravindra Jadeja pretty well in the second innings and took three wickets, while Amit Mishra and Varun Aaron took one apiece.

Earlier, India posted 200 runs in the second innings, thanks to a fighting innings played by Cheteshwar Pujara, who made a fine half-century, and helped the team in making a solid score.

The target could have been much higher, but South Africa crawled their way into the game by ripping through India’s middle and lower-order batting.
