Nagpur Test Pitch To Turn Square; Stern Test Awaits South Africa In 3rd Test

Nagpur Test pitch is likely to turn square, just like the Mohali Test.

When South Africa last faced India in Nagpur, they defeated the hosts by an innings and more, but anything of that sort is unlikely to happen this time around in Jamtha.

The Nagpur Test pitch is likely to turn square, just like the Mohali Test in which the Indian spinners wreaked havoc to seal the match inside three days.

In the Bangalore Test, too, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ripped through South Africa batting lineup to bundle them on the first day itself.

There was a little bit of assistance for spinners in Bangalore, but in the Nagpur Test they are expected to get a rank-turner, making the game a stern test for South Africa.

“It will turn, surely. It will not be too different from the pitches we have seen so far in the series,” Amar Karlekar, the Vidarbha Cricket Association curator said. “India will have the home advantage.”

With Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are in fine form, and the pitch to offer help from the first day onward, South Africa batsmen will have to play out of their skins.

JP Duminy has already called the ongoing series the “toughest ever for South Africa” and the Nagpur Test will once again going to be tough.
