The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has received major backing in form of MS Dhoni. Dhoni has termed the TNPL as a good platform for budding cricketers, as it will take the game to small cities.
Eight teams will compete in the inaugural edition of the league. The league was launched yesterday in Chennai.
The Indian limited-overs captain said that the tournament will boost confidence of the youngsters, who will play in this T20 league. Dhoni said that youngsters will be motivated by tournaments like this.
“It will take cricket to a lot of cities which are not used to watching big games,” Dhoni said. “There are a lot of day-night games planned, something that will encourage youngsters to come up.”
“All these small things really help players to become big in life,” he added. “Once you are a part of a team that is playing, you will want to represent your state and then the ultimate aim – to play for the country .
“It will act as a motivation for the youngsters,” the Indian cricket team captain concluded. “Achieving success in the tournament will also boost their confidence.”
