MS Dhoni Special Propels Rising Pune Supergiants to Thrilling Win

Be it any format of the game, scoring 23 off the last over is not at all an easy task. This, however, does not apply when you have someone like MS Dhoni in the side.

Dhoni, against Kings XI Punjab, in Rising Pune Supergiants’ last match, showed why he is one of the best and probably the most dangerous finisher in the game.

The Supergiants captain scored 23 off the last over to seal the game by four wickets, while also ensuring that his team end the tournament on a winning note

Axar Patel, bowling the final over, had no clue what was coming his way. He started well with a dot, followed by a wide, six and a dot ball.

Pune needed 16 runs to win in three balls, and Dhoni showed his magic by hitting the fourth ball for a four, and the very next ball for six over midwicket.

The Supergiants needed six off the last ball to win. Axar fired one in, but it went under Dhoni’s bat swing, and flew over the deep midwicket for a maximum.

It was an old Dhoni at display, and he ended this year’s Indian Premier League in style with his trademark helicopter shot.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab set a competitive 172-run total against the Supergiants thanks to fifties from captain Murali Vijay and Gurkeerat Singh Mann.

In reply, the Supergiants got off to a solid start with Ajinkya Rahane and Usman Khawaja, but it was captain Dhoni, who finished the job for his side.
