MS Dhoni Remains Firm on DRS, Says Not Convinced With Technology

Team India has always remained reluctant in using the Decision Review System (DRS) because of the flaws the system has, and the controversies it has caused.

Had DRS been in place, India could have ended on a winning note in Perth. But, despite that, India skipper MS Dhoni is firm on his stand of not using the technology.

In the 1st ODI against Australia, George Bailey gloved one off Barinder Sran to Dhoni, but umpire Richard Kettleborough failed to see the deflection.

Bailey, after surviving on the very first ball of his innings, went on to score a magnificent century that helped Australia in registering an imposing win.

“You have to see how many 50-50 decisions don’t go in our favour,” Dhoni said. “It always happens, then you have to take it. But I am still not convinced about DRS.”

An unconvincing appeal from India might have also contributed in Kettleborough’s decision, but DRS would have surely overturned his call.

The Indian captain, however, maintained his firm stand over the use of DRS, and said that with all the flaws and deviations it is not possible to accept the system.

“First DRS should ideally be the decision-making system,” Dhoni said. “If you see the deviations in DRS, there are quite a few deviations. Even the makers agree that can happen.”

After completing his century, Bailey took a jibe on Team India over the DRS. “It would have been interesting to have a look at it on DRS, but we’re not the team that doesn’t want it.”
