After a five-wicket loss to Australia in the opening game of the five-match series in Perth, the message seems to be simple for Team India – play less spinners.
On a placid Perth wicket which assisted the batsmen from both the teams, a source close to the BCCI suggested that playing less spinners would be more effective for the Indian team.
“The Indian spinners were very expensive. It is tough for them to contain runs on flat wickets. If India would have played more pacers, they could have done better on the field,” a source explained it to Drcricket7.
India made 309 while batting first and, in reply, Australia rounded up the match in style at the WACA with four balls to spare.
“Even a few of Australian bowlers lacked experienced and so it also was important to score more than 309 runs,” the source pointed out.
From here on, the visitors will have to come hard at the Aussies to level the series, as a loss in the next game could take all the momentum away from Team India.
