The shocking defeat against New Zealand must have left the Indian team rattled, as they were outplayed by the Blackcaps in almost every department of the game.

On the other hand, India, after managing to restrict New Zealand to an under-par total, failed to show resilience with the bat and surrendered the match pretty easily.

India captain MS Dhoni didn’t hide his disappointment after the loss, and blamed his batsmen for the defeat. He added that the batsmen didn’t adapt to the conditions.

“I think it was a low scoring wicket, I thought we restricted them to a good total, the batting let us down, the shot selection kept putting pressure on the batsmen coming in,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

“They bowled well, exploited the conditions, but we lacked adaptability, we could have applied ourselves a little more. The batting let us down,” he added.

India, now, are in a must-win position from here on. They have to win all their remaining three matches to cruise into the semifinals of the tournament.
