Chris Gayle reinforced that he is a player to look out for in the World T20, as the big West Indian smashed a scorching century to hand his side a comprehensive win over England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

West Indies chased down 182 with 11 balls to spare and six wickets remaining to start the tournament in a best possible way, and stamped themselves as a force to reckon win.

Gayle, who was in the element of his own, took just 48 balls to complete the century, smashed 11 sixes and five fours, and blew England out of the match.

“The preparation has been really good, it’s all about practising then doing it in the middle. After facing the first over I took a while to get back on strike, but Marlon helped ease the pressure.”

“We wanted to stay ahead of the run-rate, pleased to finish the game and not leave it to anyone else. I was pumped today,” Chris Gayle said after scoring a century.

“Before I went out, Sulieman Benn said ‘entertain me’. The guys who play the IPL know it’s a good wicket so we knew we always had a chance to chase it down.”
