When Mohammed Shami had landed in the Caribbean, there were question marks over his match-fitness. He was coming back from a career-threatening knee injury. And, a long lay-off from international cricket.

Shami, however, found his rhythm right from the first day itself. He was firing on all cylinders, and produced a couple of splendid spells. He has eight wickets so far in two Test matches.

“Just the hard work you have seen I put in during my time at the NCA,” Shami said. “I told doctors and trainers to give me as much load as possible because I didn’t want any doubt going ahead into the season.”

Shami seemed to have got his swing and pace back with the red ball. But how did it happened?

“I worked in the nets and did as many sessions as possible and put in as much effort as possible,” Mohammed Shami revealed. “I am thankful to god that happened and I hope it keeps going in the same vein.”

The 3rd Test between India and West Indies will take place at Gros Islet on August 9. India are currently leading the four-match Test series 1-0. The 1st Test was won by India, while the second ended in a draw.
