The Indian batting line-up has so far lived-up to the expectation in Rajkot. India have scored 162 runs in their first innings, losing just a wicket. Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay are holding firmly for the Indians.
Both Vijay and Pujara completed their fifties when the lunch was taken on Day 3. They have stitched an unbeaten 94-run partnership. The Indians are still trailing by a massive margin of 375-run in the series opener.

India lost just a wicket in the morning session in Gautam Gambhir (29). The Indian opener failed to capitalise on the start and was trapped plumb by Stuart Broad. After Gambhir’s departure, the Indian team changed gears.
Pujara (62 not out) looked positive than ever, and was hardly troubled by the English pacers. Chris Woakes did hit him on the helmet thrice, but apart from him no English bowler looked threatening at all.
Vijay, meanwhile, kept his composure from the other end. He is playing a typical Vijay-inning (57 not out) with a lot of watchful defensive shots, featuring a couple sixes, and five boundaries.
