KL Rahul had replaced Murali Vijay, who had a sore finger, in the 2nd Test. In a middle of a purple patch, Rahul was an automatic choice fill up the opener’s slot. And, the Karnataka-born grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

The Indian opener scored his third Test century to put India in a commanding position. Interestingly, all his centuries have come away from home in Australia, Sri Lanka, and now the Caribbean.

Vijay’s injury came as a blessing in disguise for the Indian team. But, he still is India’s go-to opener with Shikhar Dhawan. If Vijay comes out fit for the next match, it will be interesting to see who will Virat Kohli go with.

“I am sure Virat will enjoy this kind of a headache,” KL Rahul said. “I am always here to give people headaches and if given a chance, I will try and do my best. Obviously, they want to play the best XI and we all have the same goals to win games for our country. It is (selection) is not in my hand.”

“What is important for me is to go out there and give my best and I happy with the way I have performed.”

Shikhar Dhawan’s place could be under scrutiny. He made a fifty in the opening match, but failed to fire in the 2nd Test. The Indian team management and Kohli now has a big selection headache heading of the 3rd Test.
