Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen did whatever he could for a national team recall, but after being snubbed for a place he is all get to rejoin the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Pietersen was brought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, but was allowed to play county cricket to increase his chances for the England team selection.
As England team director, Andrew Strauss has rejected Pietersen’s bid of wearing the national colours, the destructive right-hander is to join the Sunrisers for later part of the tournament.
“It’ll give me a good opportunity to cool down and assess what I’m going to do next,” Pietersen said. “I’m just sorry it won’t be putting on an England shirt.”
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are in contention of reaching the play-offs and addition of Pietersen, if they manage to reach the last-four will boast their chances.
