The Indian Premier League has attracted a lot of unwanted attention lately, but India limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni counted the positive impact the league has made on the world cricket.

MS Dhoni, in a promotional event, said the Indian Premier League has brought cricketers close to each other, removing ‘ugly sledging’ which was there in the game a few years ago.

“We play a gentleman’s game. We want to win, but have to do it in the right way,” MS Dhoni said. “IPL has taken the ugly sledging away from cricket.”

“Friendly banter is good and that’s what these Twenty20 Leagues has done,” he added. “Really helped the cricketers in streamlining in what was known as sledging.”

The India skipper pointed out that the Indian Premier League has helped players, who are from different cultures, come together, which has improved their equations with each other.

“IPL has helped different players from different cultures come together and share the same dressing room,” MS Dhoni said. “IPL got me closer to many individuals, whom I might not have interacted with otherwise.”

“I don’t even interact with Indian players in IPL fearing what their team’s policy might be, so I take care of all these things. But my equation with many players has improved just because of IPL.”
