Anil Kumble

Amit Mishra was impressive in the first match of the Indian Cricket Team. The leggie picked four wickets to put himself in contention for the first Test match against West Indies.

Mishra will have to face a stiff competition with Ravindra Jadeja for a place in the playing XI. But, the leg-spinner believes that his experience of playing in the Caribbean will help him in the Test series.

The 33-year-old also pointed out that having Anil Kumble will also help the Indian team. Kumble has recently been elected as Team India’s coach, and West Indies series is his first assignment with the Indian team.

“The experience is going to help. I have played only one Test, but played more One-day cricket in the Caribbean,” Mishra said. “Anil bhai is with us and his experience is going to matter a lot.”

“He has played here and he keeps telling us about the conditions,” Indian Cricket Team leggie added. “We will utilize his experience and form a strategy together.”

The first Test is slated to start from July 21 in Antigua. But, the Indian team will be playing its second practice match against the West Indies Cricket Board President XI in St. Kitts.
