Gurkeerat Singh Mann is the only uncapped player names in the India squad for the first three ODIs against South Africa, and post selection the Punjab all-rounder revealed his cricketing heroes.
After receiving his maiden India call, Gurkeerat Singh Mann called skipper MS Dhoni his role model, saying he also bats at the same order like the captain.
Gurkeerat also added that watching MS Dhoni bat has helped him learn a lot and he relate to his game a lot.
“In the current lot, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is my batting role model because we both play very much at the same batting order,” Gurkeerat Singh Mann said.
“I relate to his game a lot, and I earnestly watch him bat whenever he is playing for India,” he added. “I get to learn a lot from him.”
The young all-rounder added that playing alongside senior players will help him a lot, and it would also be a learning experience for him. He also thanked Sanjay Bangar for helping him with his batting.
“More than challenge, I will gain experience, because I will share dressing room with seniors who are legends,” Gurkeerat Singh Mann said. “That’s it I would learn from them.”
“Bangar has been a valuable factor for me. He has helped with my batting techniques, which eventually helped me improve my game.”
