Defending 8 runs off the last over is not easy. But, the Indian team managed to do it against England to level the series. India defeated England by 5 runs, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s outstanding spell at the death.
Bumrah gave away just two runs in the final over to seal India’s win. He also dismissed Joe Root and Jos Buttler, both set batsmen, in the final over to conclude a superb comeback by the Indian team in Nagpur.
Ashish Nehra also showed what he brings to the side. The veteran pacer took three wickets, two with the new ball and one with the old, to tilt the game in India’s favour. England were chasing 145 runs to win.

“It’s always tough to bowl in the death,” Bumrah said after his match-winning performance. “I tried to remember the past where I’ve done well in such situations. We saw the first innings, it was on the slower side.”
“Back-of-length deliveries and slower deliveries were difficult to get away. So that is what I wanted to bowl.”

Earlier, KL Rahul played an excellent innings to help India post 144 on a tough pitch. The Indian opener scored a 47-ball 71, and held the innings together. He also made a crucial partnership with Manish Pandey.
“I played for a bit on that wicket, shot-making was difficult,” Virat Kohli said. “As soon as I got out, Rahul knew he had to play long. He has all the shots in the book. Good reflexes, hand-eye coordination.”
