India have reached at the top of the latest ICC Test Rankings, even before taking the field in the 4th Test against the West Indies. They are benefited from Australia’s recent loss to Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The Indian team is now one point clear of the second-placed Pakistan with 112 rating points. Australia, meanwhile, have conceded two places and are now third in the points table ahead of England and New Zealand.
India have a chance of strengthening their place at the top of the table. They are to face the West Indies in the 4th Test starting today. A win will help them open the gap over the second-placed sub-continent neighbours.
Virat Kohli’s men have already won the four-match series. And, are favorites to register another win in the series.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have climbed one position with a series whitewash over the Australians. The Sri Lankans are now sixth, three points clear of South Africa. They gained ten rating points with the series win.
The Windies team is currently placed eighth with 65 rating points, followed by Bangladesh (57) and Zimbabwe (8).
