The Indian captain MS Dhoni was recently under-fire for his performance with the bat. But, against New Zealand, he promoted himself to number 4 and silenced his critics with a couple of important knocks.

Dhoni was at his usual best against the Blackcaps. He was running well, timing the ball and hitting his trademark big shots. The Indian captain also helped his side in winning the closely-fought series against New Zealand.

In a press conference, Gary Kirsten insisted that there is plenty of cricket left in Dhoni. The former Proteas said that the Indian team cannot let Dhoni go. He added that the Ranchi-born is good enough to play till 2019 World Cup.

“The experience that I have had is that all great leaders have great performances until the end of their careers. Till the end,” the former Indian coach insisted.

“So if you’re willing to let MS Dhoni go, and you know that he might have potentially a great World Cup performance left in him, then you take the risk of that.”

Kirsten was India’s coach when the men in blue lifted the 2011 World Cup at home. The former coach said that Dhoni is the best captain he has ever worked with. He also called him one of “India’s greatest captains”.
