When Indian bowlers were marmalised by Steve Smith and George Bailey in the 1st ODI at the WACA, young pacer Barinder Sran managed to stamp his mark on debut.

Sran picked up three wickets on his debut by dismissing Aaron Finch, David Warner and Smith. He could have had one more, but the umpire didn’t give Bailey out.

The 23-year-old Sran, who was the lone bowler that managed to knot Australians, was much-relived with his performance, but has vowed to continue improving.

“I think a bit of pressure that was there before my debut has been released,” Sran said. “Now I have to work on specific areas. I tried to bowl slow bumpers but it did not work out.”

“I am happy in general that I was able to bowl good areas but I also sprayed a bit. I was told at the team meeting. It was like a dream come true.”

“You always dream of winning an India cap,” Sran added. “Everyone wished me luck and the seniors told me that they feel that I have the potential to do well.”

All eyes will be on Sran once again in the 2nd ODI at the Gabba, as the Indian team would be hoping him to continue his good form in Brisbane as well.
