Team India Will Look To Turn it Around at Gabba

Losing the momentum against Australia was the last thing the players had on their minds. But, despite coming close to win the 1st ODI in Perth, India failed make it across the finishing line.

Now all eyes will be on the Indian team combination for the 2nd ODI, and how they tackle Steve Smith, who has been having a love-affair with Team India lately.

Smith is no less than a bone which has got stuck in Indians’ throat. No matter what they do, Smith has overpowered them all the time.

His batting prowess exposed India’s bowling so badly that the team management is contemplating a change in the bowling strategy to counter the Aussie batting unit better.

The Perth pitch was a belter of a track and the Brisbane is expected to be no different. So, the Indians are busy discussing the ways and means to stop the all-conquering Smith.

Fortunately, India’s track record in the shorter version of the game in Australia has been quite decent. There were occasions when the Aussies were made to bit the dust by the Indians.

But, since last year’s tri-series Smith’s team has been unstoppable. Australia are playing good cricket all the time and always carry a positive demeanour.

The Indians may be lagging in the bowling depth, but the batting department has been a saving grace. Spearheaded by Rohit Sharma’s good form at the top of the order.

Fresh after getting the best cricketer of the year award from his cricket board, Virat Kohli must be nursing a strong desire to bat throughout the Indian innings to undone the past.

Then, there is captain MS Dhoni, who is always ready to take that extra burden for his team, and he would be desperate to level the series and drive home some advantage.

Whether India would be successful in achieving that goal is a tough one to answer, but the visitors are not going to take anything lying down for sure!
