The Alastair Cook-led side would be riding high on confidence, after trailing for most part of the match, by managing to register a thrilling win in the final day at the Lord’s

“It was a fantastic week at Lord’s,” Cook said. “It was a great test match to watch and both sides played really well. We get great support here at Headingley and I’m glad there’s a rush for tickets.”

“It was a rocky couple of weeks for England, off the field, and we’re still in limbo until Trevor turns up. The way Paul (Farbrace, interim coach) has taken the side, he’s done a fantastic job.”

“The challenge for us, (as) players now, is can we back up a great performance in the last three days of that test match and try to win the series…”

Meanwhile, New Zealand would want to level the series but they have received a jolt already. BJ Watling is unfit, while the Black Caps are also sweating over the fitness of Corey Anderson.

New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum would have to make changes in the playing XI, and it would not help their cause if they are to conclude the series on level terms.

“Both BJ and Corey are doubtful at this stage,” McCullum said. “We want to give them one last chance and until we are 100 percent on them we won’t be able to name the team.”

“If BJ is ruled out of keeping then Ronchi will come in and make his debut,” he added. “In terms of Corey we have to work out the best option.”
