The Junior National Selection Committee has named the 15-member squad for next year’s under-19 World Cup, which will take place in Bangladesh.

Ishan Kishan, Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman, will be leading the India under-19 World Cup squad, while Delhi opener Rishabh Pant will be his deputy.

The World Cup squad features eight batsmen, four pacers and three spinners for the tournament that is slated to take place from January 27 to February 14, next year.

“I think we’ve got a very good balanced side, especially for the conditions,” Rahul Dravid, the coach, said. “We were looking for different kinds of skill sets.”

“The fast bowlers have been quite exceptional in both the tournaments which has been a really good sign. We’ve got a couple of good spinners coming through as well and a lot of allrounders who can chip in especially in the spin-bowling department.”

India are placed in a tough group alongside Australia, New Zealand and Nepal. The Indian team will be playing its first match against Australia in Mirpur on January 28.
