India Test captain Virat Kohli getting out while playing a cross-batted shots isn’t a new thing. He is an effective puller, hooker and can play square of the wicket at will, but the only shot he is yet to master is a sweep shot.
Ahead of the crucial three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, it’s revealed that Virat Kohli has worked hard on his sweep shot.
According to sources close to Virat Kohli, he would not be playing this particular shot against the Sri Lankan spinners all the time, but plans to use the sweep shot occasionally.
The India Test captain even spent some quality time under the watchful eyes of his childhood coach recently in Delhi, the source added.
He also batted on rough and dry wickets to prepare well for the Lankan series. Before going to Australia last year, Virat Kohli had practiced on cement pitches and emerged as the best batsmen for his team in the series. Can we expect similar results in Lanka as well?
“Time will tell that. But he is ready for the Lankan series and has prepared well to do well there. He is confident and looking to make a difference. But he will be carefully while playing his sweep shot for sure,” another source told DrCricket7 on Thursday.
