MS Dhoni is someone who likes speaking his mind. In his press conferences as well he is not shying away from discussing the issues about the team, conditions and stuffs like that.
But on Sunday, Dhoni took a step forward to talk on a topic of freedom of speech, and joined the public debate. It is a rarity to see someone like an Indian cricket captain voicing his opinion on a public discourse.
It was encouraging to see Dhoni, who is also a honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army, taking a stand and not keeping himself safe from controversies, which most people do.
“As we have this debate on freedom of speech our forces are making sure we stay in position to keep debating,” Dhoni tweeted on Sunday.
“Special forces and commando units are normal people like you and me who are highly motivated and trained to put the interest of the nation before self,” he added.
With the series of tweets, MSD gave a very strong message to the youth of the country that staying in a shell is not ok, not debating controversial topics is not ok.
We need more cricketers, sportsperson, athletes and people to come out and speak out and engage themselves in debates, instead of being in their comfort zone.
