Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed why he is Virat Kohli’s last resort in the bowling department. The Indian seamer produced a match-changing spell to give the Indian team a shot at the win.
Bhuvi swung the West Indies out for a 225 on the fourth day. He finished with a fifer, taking the wickets of Jermaine Blackwood, Marlon Samuels, Shane Dowrich, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph.
Ravichandran Ashwin, too, bowled pretty well from the other end, and finished with a couple. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant chipped-in with one each. Mohammed Shami remained wicketless.
The Indian team then stretched its lead to 285 at stumps with some bricks batting. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan gave a solid opening stand. Virat Kohli, however, once again failed to contribute with the bat.
Ajinkya Rahane maintained his run-scoring form and struck a flowing half-century. He has stitched an unbeaten 85-run partnership with Rohit Sharma, who is batting at 41, with Rahane.
There is only a day left in the 3rd Test, and to force a win, India will have to bowl brilliantly once again. A total of 98 overs will be bowled today, if weather permits, and the play will start 30 minutes early.
