The Indian Cricket Team has been knocked out of the World T20 2016, after facing a seven-wicket defeat off the hands of West Indies in Mumbai.

West Indies showed tremendous grit and resilience despite losing Chris Gayle cheaply, and went on to chase down the target with two balls to spare.

Lendl Simmons, riding on two no-balls, held the Windies innings together. Johnson Charles also scored a half-century and helped his team chase down 193.

“We knew it was going to be a massive step, against a very good India team, I must commend the whole team, we knew halfway they were 10 runs short,” Darren Sammy said.

“Even when we lost Gayle, Simmons just off the flight, he and Charles,” he added. “I was just praying we win the toss, I surprised myself winning five out of five.”

Earlier, India’s top-order fired the hosts to a massive total, giving the hosts an edge in the contest, as Windies decision of electing to bowl backfired.

The hosts got a solid start from Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan in the playing XI, and later Virat Kohli and captain MS Dhoni provided the late thrust.

Kohli, riding on his luck, after avoiding some run out scares, continued his superb form with the bat and smashed another half-century for the Indian Cricket Team.

Rohit and Rahane also played good innings at the top, while skipper Dhoni was at his usual best, and supported Kohli pretty well at the end.
