Watch Shane Watson hit by James Pattinson’s bouncer ahead of ‘Boxing Day’ Test

The net session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) turned out to be quite dramatic for the Australia as Shane Watson was left shaken by James Pattinson’s bouncer, which hit on the all-rounder’s helmet and his net session was cut short.

After been hit on the helmet, Watson went on the knees and quickly left the nets to get medical attention. Watson was clearly rattled by the blow, and so does Pattinson, but the 33-year-old insisted that he will be ready to play in the ‘Boxing Day’ Test.

“I will definitely be playing, I will be doing everything I can,” Watson told reporters. “Obviously it’s a bit painful, it’s the one I broke before, but I’m not missing a Boxing Day test, that’s for sure.”

Australia vice-captain, Brad Haddin, too, insisted that Watson was a bit shaken by alright after the blow. “I had a chat to him – he’s a bit shaken, but he’s OK,” Haddin said. “It’s just getting hit in the head – he’s just a bit shaken. He’s shaken as anyone would be.”

Australia selector, Mark Waugh revealed that Watson was hit near the temple region but was confident that the all-rounder will be fit to play in the ‘Boxing Day’ Test. “We’ll see how he comes up in the morning,” Waugh said. “Hopefully he should be OK to play in the Test match.”
