MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni’s pro-active approach in this World Cup was quite apparent in the penultimate match of the Pool B against Ireland. In total India bowled 49 over to bowl out Ireland and out of which 30 of them were bowled by the slow bowlers. So, Dhoni stayed mostly close to the stump mike, which captured several Hindi dialects from the Indian captain.

His most popular dialogue was ‘Shabash’ which means ‘brilliant’ as he kept appreciating the good work done by his bowlers. In certain occasions, he was heard talking to his bowlers about why and how they should make adjustments in line and length to trap the Ireland batsmen.

In the middle, he also changed the pitch of his voice to call for Mohammed Shami. Earlier as well, Dhoni was caught on mike telling his bowlers and fielders where they were going wrong.

There were times when he had also told the bowlers that a particular fielder is placed for a reason and ‘not for fun sake’. This would come when he would be extremely disappointed with his bowlers’ performances. Fortunately, today wasn’t a bad day for India!
