Watch Peter Handscomb stunning finish for Melbourne Stars in Big Bash League [VIDEO]

Was it the best innings in the Big Bash League? This is the question doing rounds right now, and it could probably be. We are talking about Peter Handscomb, a 23-year-old Victorian, who played a stunner for the Melbourne Stars today.

The Perth Scorchers, definitely, didn’t see it coming until the 15th over when the Stars were reeling at 113 for five in a chase of 180. But, then arrived a stunning effort from Handscomb and his unbeaten ton propelled Stars to victory with three balls to spare.

Melbourne never looked like chasing the target and lost wickets on regular intervals and their biggest partnership was of 60 runs for the fourth wicket. But, a little cameo from John Hashting propelled a self-belief in the home team as they completed a three-wicket win.

Hashting played a six-ball cameo featuring three back-to-back sixes on Ashton Agar, while Clinton McKay also made seven-ball 12, featuring two boundaries. But the star performer was Handscomb, who made an unbeaten 64-ball 103, featuring five sixes and six boundaries.

Earlier, Shaun Marsh played a textbook-styled innings for the Scorchers and ensured they end up close to 200 runs mark. Marsh made 51-ball 79 and took a minimum of risk but was dismisses by Michael Beer in the 14th overs.

Michael Klinger and skipper Adam Voges played out the remaining overs and helped the Scorchers to post 179 in 20 overs. But, a scintillating effort from Handscomb stunned Perth.
