KL Rahul seemed to have learnt from his debut Test and the presence of experienced Rohit Sharma has only helped him at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as they played solidly in the first session of the 4th Test but India still trailing the match by 450 runs.

There was, again, not much happening off the deck and it is probably the slowest wicket seen in Australia after a long-long time. Still, Rahul and Rohit (53) showed application and grit in the morning session.
Australian pacers despite getting no assistance from the pitch, bowled tight line and length and only gave away 19 runs in the first hour of play. The Indians, meanwhile, played old school cricket and took time in the middle.
Rohit, who replaced Cheteshwar Pujara in the squad, completed his second half-century in Tests but immediately after reaching the landmark he dragged Nathan Lyon’s ball on his stumps while attempting a sweep.
Earlier, India lost opener Murali Vijay on the second day, when he edged Mitchell Starc’s angled delivery to wicketkeeper Brad Haddin. But, Rahul and Rohit stitched a 97-run partnership for the second wicket to help the touring party recover.
After Rohit’s departure, Virat Kohli joined Rahul in the middle and he looked fluent right from the word go. India at lunch on the third day are 122/2 with in-form Kohli (16 not out) and Rahul (50 not out) playing in the middle and have made an unbeaten -run partnership for the third wicket.
