Team India will be looking to salvage some pride in the 3rd T20 against South Africa.

India have also lost the series, by going down in first two rubbers of the three-match T20 series, and now pride is the only thing left for the hosts to win, and that’s exactly they would be hoping in the 3rd T20 at the Eden Gardens.

Team India suffered contrasting defeats in the series, as in the 1st T20 the bowlers failed to defend a more than decent target, while the batsmen surrendered in the 3rd T20.

The defeat in the 2nd T20 was more shocking, as the Indian batsmen displayed a spineless performance and couldn’t even manage to play a full quota of 20 overs. Taking nothing away from South Africa, they created the pressure on India, to which the hosts succumbed under.

“It’s probably the best bowling performance I reckon we’ve had as a T20 team,” South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis said. “So all the discussions and plans that we have had for the batters, it’s great to see that tonight everything came together, so really proud of the bowlers.”

Indian bowlers, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, did a more than decent job but there was nothing really on the board to defend, and South Africa eventually registered a thumping win in the 2nd T20.

It seems Team India has many things to work upon ahead of the 3rd T20, including running between the wicket. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were out while taking an extra run, and more than the brilliant South Africa fielding, they simply misjudged the single.

“Fielding obviously plays a massive role in T20 cricket. We got two of their big guns through fantastic run-outs and that always puts you on the front foot,” Albie Morkel said. “I think the wicket suited out bowling attack nicely so we got wickets anyway but those two run-outs really put us on top.”
