Warm-up Matches an Opportunity to get Combination Right: Faf du Plessis

South Africa must have taken aback after squandering an early advantage over Australia, and losing two successive games to surrender the three-match series.

The Proteas are struggling to get the combination right, especially in the middle-order, right before the World T20, but everything is not over for the South Africans.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis insisted that the two warm-up matches will provide his team ample time to get the combination right ahead of the marquee tournament.

Faf du Plessis said it is important to remain at the top of the game in the World T20, while adding that the two warm-up games will help in seeing who fits where in the Indian conditions.

“So we’ve got two more games (warm-up matches), and form is everything for me,” du Plessis said. “In a short World Cup like it is, you need to put someone in who is just going to be on top of his game.”

“So, yes, there is space,” he added. “In the next two games, we will see – I suppose – who is in the best form.”

South Africa’s first warm-up match is against the hosts India on March 12, while they will be playing a local team in the second game on the 15th.
