Under-fire MS Dhoni has received backing of former teammate Virender Sehwag, who feels that the India limited-overs skipper should continue atleast till the next World Cup.
Sehwag, who recently retired from international cricket, said that it is important for Team India to have MS Dhoni in the ranks, if the team wants to challenge for the title in the next World Cup.
“He should continue as captain till the next World Cup,” Virender Sehwag said. “If he does so, he can leave behind a good World Cup team.”
Virender Sehwag also pointed out that currently there is no one to replace MS Dhoni as a finisher in the squad.
“And if he retires…you can imagine, even now when Dhoni is there, people have to think about who should bat at 5th, 6th and 7th position,” Virender Sehwag pointed out.
“If Dhoni is not there, the 5th, 6th and 7th slots will become absolutely free and you cannot expect somebody to finish the match properly,” he added.
