Indian captain Virat Kohli continued rewriting history books in Antigua by scoring his maiden double century in the 1st Test. Kohli became the first Indian captain to score a double-ton away from home.

Kohli was in the element of his own. Whenever a pressure was created over the Indians, Kohli ensured that he eases it out. The Indian skipper made West Indies to go in the shell, and wait for something to happen.

The stylish right-hander was delighted to reach the magical mark. On his way to scoring the double century, Kohli was in complete control, and was rarely troubled by the Windies bowlers.

“Coming back here and getting a double hundred gives me a lot of satisfaction purely because of the fact that I have missed a couple of big scores in the past,” Virat Kohli said. “I know I have the ability to get big hundreds.”

“This is my first double hundred in first-class matches in general,” he added. “This is something I always wanted to do and I am feeling really grateful today that I was able to cross the mark.”

Kohli’s double ensured that India remain firmly in control. Courtesy Kohli’s colossal effort, Indian team ended up declaring at 566 on the second day. In reply, West Indies lost their opener Rajendra Chandrika off Mohammad Shami just before the close of play.
