If the series between India and Pakistan doesn’t happen towards the end of the year, the top Indian cricketers could be seen playing a bit of domestic cricket this December.
Sources said that the board, as of now, doesn’t have any international team in mind as replacement for the Pakistan team. And so, the top stars are likely to be free to represent their respective state teams.
“It is understood that the Indian cricketers would be playing some of the domestic matches during the year end,” a source told Drcricket7 on Wednesday.
This means, it’s not only India limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni, who would be representing his state team, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane could also been seen playing for their state teams.
Another source indicated that BCCI’s offer of $1 million per match (appearance money) to the Pakistan team could be tempting proposition to other international boards.
But the BCCI may not be ready to shell out that much amount for any other international team. Reason?
“The India-Pakistan is a marquee series and that is why the appearance money for the visiting team is quoted around $1 million. But the BCCI wants to invite any other team, it’s not that tough. Right now, there is no such plan,” the source added.
