After Zaheer Abbas issued threats that Pakistan players should boycott the World T20 in India, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur said it is “too premature” to talk about the event.

Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar has recently pulled out of the ongoing series between India and South Africa, after a political party activists broke into the BCCI office for protesting.

The BCCI secretary informed that it was Aleem Dar’s personal decision to pull out, as the board was happy to provide him the security. But, he added that protests like these are not sending the right messages across.

“I think it is premature to make such comments,” Anurag Thakur said. “If you look at the withdrawal of Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar from the India-South Africa series, it was not the BCCI which was responsible.”

“We were more than happy to provide security to him, it was the official who took this decision on his own,” he added. “I think this kind of protest is not sending the right message.”

Series against Pakistan unlikely in December

Anurag Thakur, again, stressed that it is unlikely that the archrivals would face each other in a bilateral series in December owing to unsolved issues with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“I said it three months back and I am saying it again: there are many pending issues between the cricket boards of India and Pakistan that need to be resolved,” Anurag Thakur stressed.

“Secondly, we will take decisions keeping in mind the security of the Indian team and the sentiments of the Indian people,” he added.
