The result of the 1st T20 might not have gone in India’s favour owing to some unconvincing umpiring, wayward death bowling and some gritty South Africa batting, still there were things that went in India’s way in Dharamsala.

Batting of MS Dhoni, in particular, was the highlight of India innings, as the Captain Cool looked like back in his element after a long three-month break from cricket. Dhoni finished off the innings in his trademark style – hitting Kyle Abbott for a maximum.

The India limited-overs skipper was playing after a long time, and despite coming out in the slog overs to bat, managed to play a 20-run cameo, featuring two boundaries and a might six straight over the bowlers’ head.

MS Dhoni started his innings a touch slow, with India had lost both set batsmen – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – inside an over, but gained momentum to take his side to a total that is imposing at any ground and against any opposition.

Chasing 200 was difficult for South Africa, and MS Dhoni marshaled his bowlers pretty well, despite a swift start Proteas got from AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, and used Ravichandran Ashwin to perfection in the middle overs.

Had some decisions gone in India’s favour, the result of the game could have been different. But, still, the way India batted in the game and despite unfavorable bowling conditions managed to take the game till the end, this series is far from over.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni also completed 50 T20 games as Team India’s skipper. Although the result didn’t go as per his liking in the milestone game, he would he aiming to level the series in the 2nd T20.
