Shardul Thakur in Indian Test Team for West Indies Series

Uncapped pacer Shardul Thakur has been named in the Indian team for the four-match Test series against the West Indies, starting in July.

Thakur, who plays for Mumbai in the domestic competitions, has been rewarded for his impressive performances in the 17-member squad announced today.

Virat Kohli, who is in a red hot form at the moment, will be leading the team in the Caribbean, while Ajinkya Rahane has been named his deputy on the tour.

The series will saw the return of senior players like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, who are not playing against Zimbabwe.

Pacer Mohammed Shami is making a comeback into the Test team, while Ishant Sharma Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav are the other pacers.

The team is heading into the series with three specialist openers, Murali Vijay, Dhawan and KL Rahul, along with Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra are the spinners in the side.
