Shahid Afridi to lead Pakistan in T20s till 2016 World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again put the destructive all-rounder at the helm of the national squad by appointing him as the Twenty20 skipper of the side.

Afridi, who captained Pakistan to the semifinals of the 2011 50 overs World Cup, will lead the side into the 2016 T20 World Cup. A one-off Twenty20 against Australia in Abu Dhabi will be Afridi’s first assignment as skipper.

The PCB in a statement also announced that Misbah-ul-Haq will continue to lead Pakistan team in both Tests and ODIs till the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

“In line with my policy of taking decisions democratically I consulted Cricket Committee and my Board members before announcing these decisions,” PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said.

“I wish both Afridi and Misbah very good luck in their upcoming assignments,” he added.
