On the final day of the Indian team’s preparatory camp Ravichandran Ashwin has injured his forearm. It comes as a setback for the Indian team which is to play four Tests in the Caribbean.
India’s coach Anil Kumble provided the update on Ashwin’s injury, saying that he has a bruise in forearm. “It’s a bruise, we’ll assess him,” Kumble said. “It’s been just an hour since it happened.”
It will be a big setback for India if Ravichandran Ashwin misses out on the tour. Tracks in the Caribbean are likely to assist the spinners. In the recent ODI triseries, the decks had bite for the spinners.
Ashwin has been in a superb form with the ball lately, atleast in the longer format of the game. He had a good last season in Australia and then against South Africa at home.
Team India will be starting the West Indies tour with a couple of practice matches. India will place a couple of practice matches, followed by four Tests. The opening game will take place in Antigua on July 21.
The Indian team has recently wrapped-up its first preparatory camp in Bangalore under newly-appointed coach Kumble. India will now be departing for the Caribbean Islands for this one-month long tour.
