Sanjay Bangar to Coach Indian Cricket Team in Zimbabwe Tour

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has appointed Sanjay Bangar as the coach of the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour.

A young Indian team, captained by MS Dhoni, is set to play three one-dayers and as many T20s against Zimbabwe in the series starting June 11 in Harare.

The BCCI in a statement confirmed the appointment of Bangar, while adding that Abhay Sharma will be working as team’s fielding coach on the tour.

BCCI statement reads: Sanjay Bangar has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian cricket team for the forthcoming tour to Zimbabwe, which commences on the 8th of June comprising 3 One-Day International matches and 3 T20 International matches to be played in Harare.

The BCCI is currently looking for a full-time head coach for the Indian team, and the appointment is likely to happen before the Test series against the West Indies.

Team India has been without a head coach since the departure of Duncan Fletcher. He was replaced by Ravi Shastri, who worked a a team director.

Shastri’s contract, too, expired at the end of the World T20, and since then Indian board is looking to make a new appointment in the team.
