India Prime Minister Narendra Modi took time out of his schedule to wish Team India ahead of the World Cup, as the defending champions are set to take on archrivals Pakistan in their opening encounter at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
“As the 2015 Cricket World Cup begins, my best wishes to the Indian Cricket Team,” PM Modi Tweeted. “खेलो दिल से, वर्ल्ड कप लाओ फिर से!”
PM Modi praised the 15-member Indian team individually and pounded his hopes on skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to bring back the cup home. “My best wishes to captain cool @msdhoni. Play hard, lead well & make India proud. Knowing you, I am sure you will.”
Narendra Modi also pointed out that the whole nation has high hopes from the flamboyant Virat Kohli to which the Indian vice-captain replied with “Thank You for your best wishes @narendramodi sir. We are ready to give it our all. Jai Hind!”
