PCB Disappointed after West Indies’ Refusal of Playing in Pakistan

West Indies have refused to play some limited-overs matches from their upcoming tour in Pakistan because of security concerns in the country.

Pakistan are slated to play three Test matches, five one-dayers and two T20Is against West Indies in the UAE. The series is slated to take place in September-October this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had requested the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to play some matches from the series in Pakistan.

Their demand, however, was turned down by the Windies Board, and insisted on playing the whole tour in the UAE only.

“The West Indies board have informed us they prefer to have the full series in UAE because of security reasons,” a top PCB official was quoted by PTI.

“It is disappointing because we are trying our best to convince other boards that security conditions in Pakistan are improving with time and they need to support us even by playing a few games of a home series that is played in UAE.”

All teams are avoiding touring Pakistan since 2009, after terrorists attacked Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board is trying to convince teams that conditions are improving in the country.
