Blow for Kolkata Knight Riders! John Hastings Ruled out of IPL 2016

Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered a big blow, as their frontline seamer John Hastings has been ruled out of this year’s Indian Premier League.

The scans have revealed that Hastings has suffered an ankle injury. He now will return to Australia for rehabilitation, and gaining fitness for the series against West Indies.

“He bowled through a fair bit of pain,” KKR assistant coach, Simon Katich said. “He had a fair bit of scans after that and he has flown back to Australia. It’s a shame to see his campaign end prematurely.”

“He had fitted in really well into the team and he had performed well in a couple of games. Yeah, unfortunately he’ll be doing a lot of rehab instead and working towards getting fit for the West Indies tour for Australia.”

The Knight Riders are yet to name Hastings’ replacement for the remaining matches. Katich said the team is in the process of finalising the player and will confirm the replacement in coming days.

“We have sent off the paperwork,” Katich said. “Nothing has been confirmed regarding the player concerned. Hopefully that’ll happen in the next few days.”
