Australia have announced their playing XI for the 1st ODI against India, with pacer Joel Paris and Scott Boland are set to make their debuts at the WACA.

The hosts have named four specialist pacers – Paris, Boland, Josh Hazlewood and James Faulkner – alongwith allrounder Mitchell Marsh.

There is no specialist spinner in the Australian team, as the WACA has traditionally been pace-friendly, which means Glenn Maxwell might have to spin a few balls.

Australia have left Shaun Marsh, who has been in fine form lately, out of the playing XI. He is expected to get his chance later in the series.

“Traditionally we like to play a left-armer here who can use the breeze and move the ball so hopefully he’ll be able to do that for us tomorrow,” Steve Smith said.

“He’s been very impressive in the Matador Cup in the last couple of years and in the Big Bash this year,”  “We look forward to seeing how he goes.”

“It’s a good opportunity for him and some other young quicks around the country,” he added. “So it’s an exciting time for Joel to make his debut at the WACA.”

Meanwhile, India are yet to announce their playing XI, which MS Dhoni is likely to announce before the toss.

Australia Playing XI: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith (c), George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Mathew Wade (wk), James Faulkner, Joel Paris, Scott Boland and Josh Hazlewood.
