Is two pacers & spinners plus allrounder, a perfect bowling combo?

From the first two matches of the triseries, the worst fear of not having proper bowlers in the team has already started bothering the Indians badly. This is one area, which has kept the Indians behind. But as it appears that the team is gradually moving towards a direction which can accommodate two pacers, two spinners and an allrounder in Stuart Binny.

The house isn’t decided on who would be those two pacer eventually. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a role of strike bowler, there could be a three-way fight for one slot. Ishant Sharma, Mohd Shami and Umesh Yadav could be competing against each other to take the second slot.

To form a perfect foil with Bhuvneshwar, team management would definitely prefer Ishant as a front line choice to share the new ball. The second best contender could be Shami, but Umesh has some real work to do before he can be an automatic choice for his team before the World Cup. Now that Ishant is nursing his injury, he is not available for selection. But otherwise, Umesh doesn’t fit into the scheme of things the way he is bowling in recent days. He is short and wide.

He also provides ample opportunities to the opponent batsmen to free their arms at will. This is
not a good sign for a team which is going to start their World Cup defending challenge in less than a month time.

Even the board is wondering what is wrong with the Indian bowling. Can’t they take inspirations from Australia and England after playing against them? Meanwhile, the spin department is expected to get a major relief after Ravidra Jadeja is declared fit.

With R Ashwin as his partner, their roles would be to contain the batsmen from scoring. But at the end of it, you need someone to take those wickets early on. The team is convinced that Bhuvneshwar can play that role convincingly. Let’s wait and watch how this bowling department unfold this mystery!
